WAC Lighting PD414648-TWA-BK/BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Lighting PD4146 Longboard linear pendant be installed on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Longboard PD4146 is a ceiling-mounted linear pendant built for sloped ceilings as well as flat ones, and it ships with six 12 inch and two 6 inch extension rods so you can set the drop height. Additional rods are sold separately if you need a longer drop than the included rods allow.
2) Will the PD4146 pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The driver is concealed in the backplate and is universal voltage, covering 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on commercial 277V lighting circuits. It is hardwired, not plug-in, so it needs a junction box and a ceiling feed.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Longboard LED pendant?
It accepts 0-10V, ELV, or TRIAC dimming. On a residential job a forward or reverse phase (TRIAC/ELV) wall dimmer is the usual route; on a commercial control system the 0-10V input lets it tie into a building lighting controller. A standard incandescent-only dimmer that is not TRIAC rated is the wrong choice.
4) Is the Longboard pendant safe to hang in a bathroom or covered outdoor porch?
The PD4146 carries a Damp location rating and is ETL and cETL listed, so it is suitable for a bathroom, covered porch ceiling, or similar interior damp space. It is not wet-location rated, so do not use it where it will take direct rain or spray.
5) How much light does the 37W WAC Longboard pendant actually put out over a kitchen island or conference table?
3936 lumens at 37W, with a flood beam spread through a frosted acrylic diffuser, so the output spreads across the length of the fixture rather than punching down in spots. That is enough for general lighting over an island or a conference table in most rooms, with the dimmer handling the trim down for dining.
6) Do I need to order bulbs for the WAC PD4146, and what happens when the LED fails?
No separate lamps to buy. The LED module is included and the engine is a high powered replaceable LED rather than a sealed board, so the light source can be swapped rather than replacing the whole pendant. Rated life is 50,000 hours.
7) Will the Longboard pendant's light match the other 3000K fixtures in my building?
It runs 3000K, a warm white, with CRI 90 color rendering. That pairs with other 3000K downlights and linears, so it will not read cooler or bluer next to them. The CRI 90 matters in retail, showroom, and hospitality spaces where finishes and merchandise colors have to look right.
8) Does the WAC PD4146 pendant meet California Title 24 for a permitted job?
Yes. The Longboard is CEC compliant and meets Title 24 and Title 20, so it can be specified on California permitted work. It is not Energy Star rated, if that is a separate requirement on your project. It is also not ADA compliant, which matters only where a protruding fixture is in play, not for a ceiling pendant over an island.
9) What finishes does the WAC Longboard PD4146 come in?
Two: Black with Aged Brass accent and Black with Brushed Nickel accent, both on an aluminum body with the frosted acrylic diffuser. Pick the accent to match the other metal in the room, cabinet pulls and faucets usually.
