1) Does the WAC HR-D412-S square trim come with a lamp?
No lamp is included. The HR-D412-S is trim only and takes an LED MR16 lamp ordered separately. It accommodates most LED MR16 lamps, so plan on specifying beam spread and color temperature on the lamp side.
2) Is the HR-D412-S trim line voltage or low voltage?
Low voltage. Input is 12 VAC, so it has to run off a magnetic or electronic low voltage housing/transformer. If your ceiling is wired for 120V line voltage recessed cans, this trim is not the right part.
3) What aperture size housing does this WAC square trim fit?
It is a 4 inch low voltage die-cast adjustable square trim and mounts to a 4 inch low voltage recessed housing. Steel spring clips hold it into the housing, so no screws or separate mounting hardware are needed at the trim.
4) Can the WAC HR-D412-S square trim be aimed at artwork or a wall?
Yes. The center lamp holder lets the MR16 tilt up to 35 degrees from vertical, which is enough for wall washing or accenting art from a 4 inch aperture. The square aperture stays flush while the lamp aims inside it.
5) What finish combinations does the HR-D412-S come in?
Two: Specular Clear reflector with Brushed Nickel trim ring (HR-D412-S-SC/BN) and Specular Clear reflector with White trim ring (HR-D412-S-SC/WT). The first part of the code is the cone finish, the second is the ring, so you can match the ring to the ceiling and keep the same clear specular cone.
6) I have round recessed cans already, can I mix in this square trim?
The HR-D412-S has a square outer trim, so it will not visually match round 4 inch trims on the same ceiling run even though both are 4 inch low voltage. If you are patching into an existing round layout, stay with a round trim; use the square only where the whole run is square.
7) Can I change the lens on the WAC HR-D412-S recessed trim?
Yes. It ships with a clear glass lens, and that lens can be swapped for one lens accessory, such as a diffusing or color lens, ordered separately. Only one lens goes in at a time.
8) Is this WAC trim durable enough for commercial or hospitality ceilings?
The trim body is die-cast aluminum rather than stamped steel or plastic, which holds its shape during relamping and repeated aiming. That, plus the steel spring clip retention, is why this style gets specified in hotel and retail ceilings where trims get handled often.
