1) Will the WAC JHT-180LED track head fit J-track, or do I need H-track?
The JHT-180LED is a J-track fixture, so it mounts to WAC J Series (120V) track only. It will not seat in an H-style or L-style track channel. If your existing runs are H-track, order the H-series version of the head instead.
2) Does this WAC low voltage track head need a separate transformer?
No separate transformer or remote driver is needed. The transformer is concealed inside the fixture housing, so the head takes 120 VAC straight off the track at 8 watts total load.
3) Can I dim the WAC JHT-180LED, and what kind of dimmer do I need?
It dims, but on an ELV (electronic low voltage) dimmer, down to 15 percent of full output. A standard incandescent or MLV dimmer is the wrong control for it and will cause flicker or drop-out.
4) Can this track head be used in a covered exterior soffit or a bathroom with a shower?
No. The JHT-180LED is rated for dry interior locations only. For a damp or wet location such as an open soffit, a canopy, or directly over a tub or shower, you need a fixture carrying a damp or wet location listing.
5) Does ordering the JHT-180LED get me everything needed to light a space, or do I need track and a feed as well?
This is the head alone, not a complete system. You still need J-series track sections, a power feed or end connector, mounting hardware for the ceiling, and connectors for any corners or joints in the run. The head itself arrives with its lamp and a clear glass lens.
6) Is the MR16 lamp included with the JHT-180LED, and what base does it use?
The lamp ships with the head. It is a single 8W MR16 LED with a GY5.3 bi-pin base, so a replacement later is a standard GY5.3 MR16 rather than a proprietary module.
