1) Will the WAC HHT-808 track head fit my existing track, or do I need WAC H-track specifically?
The HHT-808 is built for WAC H Series track. The head ships with its own polycarbonate track adapter and transformer case sized for H track, so it drops onto an existing H-track run without a separate adapter. It will not seat in J-track or a proprietary three-circuit extrusion.
2) What lamp do I have to order with the HHT-808 track head?
No lamp comes with it. The 808 takes a 12V MR16 with a GY5.3 bi-pin base, 50W maximum, seated in a ceramic socket. Order lamps separately and do not exceed 50W on this model; the 808L is the version rated to 75W max. A clear glass lens is included for the halogen build.
3) Can I put an LED MR16 in the HHT-808 instead of halogen?
Yes, but the transformer minimum load decides it. The halogen version of the 808 head requires a 20W minimum load, so a low-wattage LED MR16 may not start or hold steady on it. WAC builds an LED version of the transformer with a 1W minimum load, and a 1W-minimum option for the halogen version is available from the factory. If the plan is LED lamps, specify the LED-compatible transformer rather than dropping an 8W LED into a 20W-minimum head.
4) Will the HHT-808 dim on my existing wall dimmer?
Only on an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. On ELV control a halogen MR16 dims to 1 percent and an LED MR16 dims to 10 percent. A standard incandescent/forward-phase or TRIAC dimmer is not the right control for this head.
5) Can the HHT-808 low voltage track head go in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom over a shower?
No. It is rated for dry locations and indoor use only, so keep it out of exterior soffits, covered entries, and wet or damp zones like shower and tub areas. Dry interior retail, gallery, and residential track runs are what it is built for.
6) Does the WAC HHT-808 meet California Title 24 for a commercial lighting submittal?
Yes. The 808 head is listed as Title 24 compliant and CEC listed, and carries UL and cUL listing for both US and Canadian jobs. It is also noted as ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star rated, so if a spec calls specifically for Energy Star this head will not satisfy it.
7) How much room do I need below the ceiling for a WAC HHT-808 head, and how far does it aim?
Plan on 6-1/2 inches of height off the track with the head extending about 3 inches and a 4.5 inch width; the shade diameter is 2.75 inches and maximum height is 6.25 inches. Aiming is a swivel yoke with 350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, so one head covers wall wash to straight down from the same mounting point.
8) What finishes does the WAC HHT-808 track head come in for matching the heads already on my track?
Three finishes: Black (HHT-808-BK), Dark Bronze (HHT-808-DB), and White (HHT-808-WT). Ordering by the full suffix is the way to keep a mixed run of heads consistent across a space.
9) Is the HHT-808 line voltage or does it need a remote transformer?
