Modern Forms FR-W1813-60L-GB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Morpheus III 60-inch fan be installed on an open outdoor patio, or does it need to be under cover?
The Morpheus III carries a Wet location rating with UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listings, so it can go on covered indoor or outdoor locations such as a porch or patio ceiling. Wet rated means it tolerates direct water exposure, but the manufacturer's application is covered indoor or outdoor locations, so mount it under a soffit, lanai or roofed patio rather than fully exposed to the sky.
2) Will this Morpheus III work on a vaulted or sloped ceiling?
Out of the box it mounts on slopes up to 30 degrees, and a 4.5 inch downrod ships with it. Past 30 degrees you need the XF-SCK Slope Ceiling Kit, sold separately. On a tall vault you will also want a longer downrod, which is a separate order item, since the included rod only drops the fan 4.5 inches from the canopy.
3) Does the Morpheus III come with a remote, or do I need to rough in a wall control?
A battery-operated Bluetooth remote with a wall cradle, part number F-RCBT-WT, is included. No wall control is included and none is required, since the cradle mounts to the wall without wiring. You can also run it over WiFi from the Modern Forms app or a wall-mounted Android or iOS tablet, so a single switched 120V feed to the outlet box is all the electrician needs to provide.
4) What size room does a 7244 CFM 60-inch ceiling fan suit?
With a 60 inch blade span, three 26.88 inch ABS blades at a 12 degree pitch and 7244 CFM on high, the Morpheus III is sized for great rooms, large living spaces and big covered patios rather than a small bedroom. The six-speed DC motor lets you dial it well down, so it still works in a bedroom or home office where you have the ceiling area for a 60 inch sweep.
5) Which smart home systems does the Modern Forms Morpheus III integrate with?
It connects over WiFi to the Modern Forms app and works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Control4 and Josh AI. The app handles speed, breeze mode, adaptive learning, grouping and light control, so multiple fans across a building can be run as a group. No hub or wall controller is shipped with the fan.
6) Can the light be dimmed, and what color temperature is the LED?
The integrated LED module is dimmable through the app or remote and puts out 1600 lumens at 3000K with 90 CRI in a flood distribution. Total draw is 50.5 watts and the module is rated for 50,000 hours. It is a fixed LED module, not a lamp socket, so there is no bulb to swap.
7) Is this fan Energy Star qualified for a rebate or green building spec?
The Morpheus III is Energy Star qualified, and the DC motor is rated up to 70 percent more efficient than a traditional AC fan motor. Total connected load including the LED is 50.5 watts at 120 volts, which is the figure to use on a panel schedule.
8) Will the black blades hold up outdoors, and what are they made of?
Blades are ABS plastic in a Gloss Black finish, three of them at 26.88 inches each. ABS is used here rather than wood specifically because the fan is Wet location rated, so the blades will not warp or delaminate in a humid covered patio the way a timber-blade indoor fan does.
9) Can I run the Morpheus III as a fan only, without the light?
Yes. An optional cover ships with the fan to conceal the luminaire when you do not want the light, and the LED can also simply be left off and controlled separately from fan speed through the remote or app. The motor is reversible for winter reverse operation independent of the light.
10) Does the Morpheus III meet ADA requirements for a public-space install?
No. The Morpheus III is not ADA compliant, so on a project where the fan or its controls fall under ADA scoping you will need to address that separately. Nothing about the Wet location listing or the UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listings changes that.
11) Which finish does the W1813-60L-GB come in?
Model W1813-60L-GB is the Gloss Black build of the Morpheus III, 60 inch span. The GB suffix is the finish code, and the blades carry that same Gloss Black finish.
