Modern Forms FR-W1810-60-GW – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Vortex 60 inch fan be installed on a covered outdoor patio?
Yes. The Vortex W1810-60-GW is Wet Location rated and carries UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listings, so it can go indoors or outdoors, including covered patios exposed to rain and humidity. The ABS blades hold up better than wood in that environment.
2) Will the Vortex 60 inch ceiling fan mount on a sloped ceiling?
Out of the box the Vortex handles slopes up to 30 degrees using the included 4.5 inch downrod. For a steeper pitch, 32 to 45 degrees, you need to add the XF-SCK slope ceiling kit. Order that separately if the ceiling is a vaulted or cathedral pitch.
3) Does the Vortex 60 inch DC fan come with a wall control or just a remote?
A Bluetooth handheld remote with a wall cradle is included (Part No. F-RCBT-WT). No hardwired wall control is included. If the job spec calls for a wall-mounted control, budget for a Wi-Fi wall tablet or use the Modern Forms app instead.
4) How big a room will a 7720 CFM ceiling fan cover?
The Vortex moves 7720 CFM across a 60 inch blade span with three 25.88 inch ABS blades at a 13 degree pitch. That output is aimed at great rooms, large living areas and open patios rather than a small bedroom, where a 60 inch span would overwhelm the space.
5) What smart home systems does the Modern Forms Vortex fan work with?
Control runs through the free Modern Forms app, which adds speed control, breeze mode and adaptive learning. It integrates with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Control4 and Josh AI, so it drops into most residential automation packages.
6) What are the electrical requirements for the Vortex W1810-60-GW?
It runs on standard 120V and draws just 32W total thanks to the DC motor. That is a light load on a branch circuit, and the DC drive is the reason the draw is so much lower than a comparable AC fan.
7) Is the Modern Forms Vortex fan Energy Star or ADA compliant?
Neither. The Vortex W1810-60-GW is not Energy Star qualified and is not ADA compliant. If a project spec requires either, this is not the right fan for that opening, though it does carry UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listings.
8) Can the Vortex ceiling fan be reversed for winter use?
Yes, the DC motor is reversible, so you can run it in reverse at low speed in heating season to push warm air back down off the ceiling. Six speeds give you fine control in either direction.
9) Does the Vortex 60 inch fan include a light?
No light kit is part of the Vortex W1810-60-GW. It is a three-blade Gloss White fan only, so plan separate lighting for the room or patio.
