  • Housing: Two-piece housing, with free spinning outer ring to prevent wrenching. Concealed mounting screws standard on double cylinder functions SFIC unit – 1-3/8" to 2" (35mm to 51mm).

  • Deadbolt:1" (25.40mm) throw, solid steel deadbolt with hardened, free spinning, steel pin insert.

Arrow E60 26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Arrow E60 exit deadlock actually do? There's no key on it.
The E60 is a non-keyed deadbolt: blank plate on the outside, thumbturn on the inside. Nobody can operate it from the exterior side at all. It's used where you want to throw a bolt from inside only, like a stockroom, a back-of-house door, or an exit door secured after hours. If you need key access from outside, this is the wrong function and you want a cylinder x thumbturn deadbolt instead.
2) Will an Arrow E60 deadbolt fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or does it need a 1-3/4?
Both work. The E60 covers 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors as standard, which spans the common older interior door and the standard commercial 1-3/4 inch leaf. Thicker than 1-3/4 and you're outside the range.
3) Do I have to know my backset before ordering an Arrow E60?
No. The E series deadlock backset is adjustable between 2-3/8 inch and 2-3/4 inch, the two standard bore-to-edge dimensions, so one unit covers either prep. The faceplate differs with it: 2-1/4 x 1 inch for the 2-3/8 backset, 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inch for the 2-3/4 backset.
4) Will the Arrow E60 throw into my existing deadbolt strike?
The bolt is a 1 inch throw solid steel deadbolt, which is the commercial standard projection, so it should engage a strike already cut for a 1 inch bolt. The unit ships with the #346 wood frame strike; for a hollow metal frame, order the #345 metal frame strike. If you're reusing the existing strike, confirm the bolt hole depth allows full 1 inch projection so the bolt isn't binding.
5) What is the closest keyed alternative to the Arrow E60 exit deadlock for a commercial opening?
The Arrow E60 is a non-keyed Grade 2 deadbolt with a blank plate on one side and a thumbturn on the other, fitting doors 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch thick. If the opening needs key control from the outside, the Dexter DB2000-SCT is a Grade 2 single cylinder deadbolt with a cylinder outside and thumbturn inside covering the same 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch door thickness range. The Falcon D211 is another Grade 2 cylinder x thumbturn deadbolt, rated medium duty. Both give you outside key access the E60 deliberately does not provide.
6) I need a heavier deadbolt than Grade 2 for a high traffic entrance - what should I use instead of the Arrow E60?
The Arrow E60 is a Grade 2 deadbolt. For a heavier specification, the Accentra D111 is a Grade 1 single cylinder deadbolt with a 2-3/8 inch backset covering 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, the Dexter DB1000-SCT is a Grade 1 cylinder x thumbturn deadbolt for 1-3/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch doors, and the Falcon D111 is a Grade 1 heavy duty classroom deadbolt with an adjustable backset. All three are keyed from the outside, which changes the function from the E60's blank outside plate.
7) What deadbolt should I use if the door needs a key on both sides instead of the Arrow E60 arrangement?
The Arrow E60 is non-keyed with a blank outside plate. For key control on both faces, the Hager 3214 is a Grade 2 double cylinder deadbolt with a Schlage C keyway for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, and the Dexter DB2000-DCT is a Grade 2 double cylinder deadbolt over the same door thickness range. For a Grade 1 double cylinder, the Design Hardware D1 Series is extra heavy duty for 1-3/4 inch doors. Note that double cylinder deadbolts are restricted on egress doors in many jurisdictions, which is often why an exit deadlock like the E60 is specified instead.
8) I need a fire rated deadbolt - is the Arrow E60 the right choice?
If the opening carries a fire label requirement, look at the Hager line: the 3215 is a Grade 2 single cylinder deadbolt with a 1 inch throw, the 3115 is a Grade 2 cylinder x thumbturn with a Schlage C keyway, and the 3118 is a Grade 1 classroom deadbolt with a Schlage C keyway and 6-pin cylinder. All three are carried as fire rated and fit 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors, the same door range the Arrow E60 covers. Cal-Royal's CRB800 is a heavy duty single cylinder deadbolt with a UL 3-hour fire rated latch.
9) Is the Arrow E60 handed? I need it for a left hand door.
Handing isn't a concern. All E Series deadlock functions are reversible, so the same unit works on a left or right hand door with no special ordering.
10) Is the Arrow E60 tough enough for a commercial exit door that gets hit hard?
It's a Grade 2 commercial deadlock. The security features are in the housing: a two-piece design with a free spinning outer ring so a wrench can't grab and turn it, concealed mounting screws, and a solid steel bolt with a hardened free-spinning steel pin insert to resist sawing. It's thru-bolted with two 1/4 inch steel thru-bolts rather than relying on wood screws.
11) The order form asks for keying on the Arrow E60. What do I pick on a non-keyed deadbolt?
Since the E60 has a blank plate outside and a thumbturn inside, there is no cylinder to key. Choose the None (less cylinder) option. Keyed Different and Keyed Alike are on the form because they apply across the E Series, and Keyed Alike is what you'd select if you were grouping several keyed E Series deadbolts on one key.
12) The spec on my job calls for a Grade 1 deadlock. Is there an alternative to the Arrow E60?
The E60 is Grade 2, so it won't meet a Grade 1 spec. Grade 1 cylindrical deadlocks in the same format include the Corbin Russwin DL3011, which fits 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch doors, and the DL3211 for 1-3/4 inch doors. Watch the thickness: those Corbin units start at 1-3/4, so they won't drop onto a 1-3/8 inch door the way the E60 will.
13) Can I add an interchangeable core to an Arrow E60 later if I decide I want key access?
Not to the E60 itself, because its outside face is a blank plate with no cylinder position. The E Series does offer SFIC cylinder options on its keyed functions, accepting 6 or 7 pin small format interchangeable cores including Best and Falcon type cores, supplied less cores. If your facility is standardized on SFIC, order a keyed E Series function up front rather than planning to convert the E60.
14) How does the Arrow E60 compare to a Corbin Russwin cylindrical deadlock?
Both are cylindrical deadlocks, but they cover different doors. The Arrow E60 is Grade 2, non-keyed, blank plate outside with a thumbturn inside, for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors. The Corbin units are keyed outside with no inside operator; the E60 is the reverse.
15) Can I use a surface mounted or electronic deadbolt in place of the Arrow E60?
Only if you are willing to change the door prep. The Arrow E60 is a bored cylindrical deadbolt that drops into a standard cross bore on a 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch door. The Codelocks CL200 is a surface deadbolt with key override and the CL2200 is an electronic surface deadbolt, both mounted to the door face rather than through a cross bore, and both rated light to medium duty. The Dormakaba Saffire LX-D is an RFID electronic deadbolt with electronic lock override. None of these will reuse the E60's bore and strike prep directly.
16) What is the difference between the Arrow E60 and a mortise deadbolt like the Dormakaba D900?
The Arrow E60 is a bored deadbolt that installs in a cross bore with a 1 inch by 2-1/4 inch faceplate. The Dormakaba D900 is a small case mortise deadbolt in a cylinder x thumbturn arrangement, requiring a mortise pocket routed into the door edge rather than a cross bore. The Dormakaba M1960 is a single cylinder deadbolt with cylinder and turn and no trim. If the door is already prepped for a bored deadbolt, the E60 matches that prep and the mortise units do not.
17) Which Grade 2 deadbolts accept an interchangeable core the way the Arrow E60 does?
The Arrow E60 accepts 6 or 7 pin small format interchangeable cores and will take Best or Falcon type cores, supplied less core.
