1) What door thickness does the Schlage L9050 mortise lock fit?
The L9050 is built for 1-3/4 inch doors, the standard commercial thickness. Backset is 2-3/4 inches and the mortise pocket has to take a case measuring 4-7/16 x 6-1/16 x 1 inch. Two of the trim options widen the range on the rose/escutcheon side: the L cast/forged escutcheon covers 1-3/8 to 2-1/2 inch doors, and the N wrought escutcheon covers 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 inch. If your opening is thicker or thinner than 1-3/4, that is an option you have to call out on the order, not an assumption.
2) How does the Entrance/Office function on the Schlage L9050 actually work day to day?
Both levers retract the latchbolt normally. Lock the outside lever with the key from outside or the thumbturn from inside, and the outside lever goes dead. With it locked, the latch still pulls from outside with a key and from inside with the lever, so the inside lever is always free for immediate egress. An auxiliary latch deadlocks the latchbolt once the door is closed. That is office-door behavior: staff throws the thumbturn on the way out, nobody gets trapped inside.
3) What does the indicator on the L9050 display, and which side is it on?
It is a text indicator reading Locked / Unlocked, and it faces the interior of the room. Schlage's 180 degree visibility indicator means someone can read it from an angle down the corridor side of the room, not just standing square to the door. 7) Will the L9050 work with my existing strike, or do I need to cut the frame?

Radius corner frames and curved lip strikes are a different prep. Lip length also matters: 1-3/16 inch suits a frame flush with the door face, and a deeper reveal or applied stop needs a longer lip specified separately.
