Schlage L9094EUP-06A-626-RX – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What happens at the Schlage L9094EU when the power drops?
The L9094EU is a fail secure EU function: the outside lever is held locked by 12V or 24V DC, so when power is lost the outside lever locks. Entry from outside is then by key only. The inside lever is always free for immediate egress regardless of power state, so it is safe on an egress door even during an outage.
2) Will the L9094EU work on a 1-3/8 inch door?
No. The L9094EU is built for 1-3/4 inch doors, the standard commercial thickness. For a thinner or thicker leaf you need one of the L Series door thickness options specified at order time, not this standard configuration.
3) Do I have to order a left hand or right hand L9094EU?
Handing isn't an ordering decision here. The L9094EU is field reversible, so one lock covers either hand and you can stock a single part number across a building.
4) Will the L9094EU latch into the strike already in my frame?
It ships with a 3/4 inch stainless steel latch with anti-friction tongue and the 10-072 box strike, 1-1/4" x 4-7/8" square corner with a 1-3/16" lip. If your frame already has a 4-7/8 inch ANSI square corner strike prep, the latch lines up. Rounded corner or T-strike preps need a different strike ordered with the lock.
5) Does the L9094EU come with cylinders, and what keyway?
Depends which cylinder option you pick. Choose P and you get conventional 6-pin cylinders in the C keyway. Choose L (less conventional cylinder) and the lock ships without cylinders so you can fit your own conventional or interchangeable core to match the building's keying. Note this is a double cylinder function, so it takes a cylinder on each side.
6) Is this Schlage electrified mortise lock approved for a fire rated door?
L9000 locks are UL listed for 3-hour fire doors, and UL/cUL listed for A label single doors up to 4' x 10' and pairs to 8' x 10'. The letter F and UL symbol on the latch front identify the listing. Electrified functions are UL19X listed for single-point locking. The lock also meets ADA requirements and the Buy American Act.
7) Is the L9094EU heavy enough for a high traffic school or hospital entrance?
Yes. It is a heavy duty commercial mortise lock tested and certified under ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Grade 1 for both security and operational, plus ANSI/ASTM F476-76 Grade 40. One caution when standardizing: with interchangeable core cylinders the assembly rates Grade 2 security, while a concealed shell cylinder holds A156.13 Grade 1 operational and security.
8) What is the closest equivalent to the Schlage L9094EU if the access control panel only supplies 24VDC?
The Schlage L9094EU auto-detects 12 or 24VDC, so a 24VDC panel drives it directly with no change of part. If the specification calls for a different manufacturer on 24V, the SDC 7600 Series is a Grade 1 motorized latch retraction mortise lockset with 24VDC control, and the Command Access LPM190-M-EU-CH is a 24V motorized latch retraction mortise lock with electric unlock. Note the difference in what the current does: the L9094EU electrically locks and unlocks the outside lever while the latchbolt stays projected, whereas the 7600 and LPM190 motorize retraction of the latchbolt itself, which is what you want when the opening is tied to an automatic operator.
9) Can I retrofit an existing mortise lock to electrified operation instead of buying a complete L9094EU?
Yes, if the existing trim and levers are staying. The Schlage L9094EU is a complete electrified mortise lockset with lever trim, a conventional 6-pin C keyway cylinder and a 10-072 box strike. Command Access sells chassis-only alternatives that reuse trim already on the door: the LPM110ECH is an electrified latch retraction mortise lock chassis running on 24VDC, and the ML04EU is an electrified mortise lock chassis in asylum, institution and utility function. Chassis-only means you supply the levers, roses and cylinders; the L9094EU arrives as a full assembly.
10) Is the DynaLock EML-1 a drop-in substitute for the Schlage L9094EU?
They are not the same function. The DynaLock EML-1 is an electrified mortise lock in storeroom function, which means the outside lever is key-only and the inside lever always retracts the latch. The Schlage L9094EU is a double cylinder keyed function in which the outside lever is continuously locked by 12 or 24VDC, the latchbolt retracts by either key or the inside lever, and request-to-exit signaling is available. If the drawing calls out RX monitoring and electrically controlled outside lever, the EML-1 storeroom function will not satisfy it.
11) What does Request to Exit on this mortise lock actually do for my access control panel?
The RX switch signals the panel whenever the inside lever is turned, so the system knows the door was used legitimately and can shunt the alarm instead of reporting a forced door. The L Series electrified locks also offer DPS, latchbolt monitor and deadbolt monitor as additional monitoring options if your panel needs door position or bolt status.
12) Can I run the L9094EU off a 12V supply, or does it need 24V?
Either one. The lock auto detects 12V or 24V DC, drawing 400mA, so it drops onto whichever supply the rest of your access control is running. The EL/EU behavior is also customer selectable on L Series electrified locks.
13) Will the levers on this lock match my Von Duprin exit devices and other Schlage trim?
They will. All L Series levers suite with Von Duprin exit devices and with the related L Series LE, LM9200, LM9300 and LT products, so the openings look consistent across mortise, exit device and multipoint hardware. Lever choices here are 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 07, 17 and Omega, all on the A wrought rose in 626 satin chrome.
14) Can I add a high security cylinder or an occupancy indicator to this lock?
Both are available on L Series. Specify a Primus 20-500 Series cylinder for a UL437 listed locking cylinder, and the exclusive 180 degree visibility indicator is an option if staff need to see locked status at a glance. Vandlgard free-wheeling outside trim is also offered on most functions including electrified, and ligature resistant trim is available for behavioral health openings.
15) What is the alternative to the L9094EU for an opening that takes abuse from forced lever turning?
The Schlage L9094EU offers a Vandlgard free-wheeling outside trim option on most functions, including electrified ones, which lets the outside lever rotate freely without transmitting force to the lock case. If you are comparing brands on that point, the SDC Selectric 7800 PRO Series is a solenoid controlled mortise lock with a vandal resistant clutch, rated for 1-3/4 inch doors, the same door thickness the L9094EU is built for.
16) For a behavioral health or detention opening, is the L9094EU the right mortise lock?
The Schlage L9094EU is a Grade 1 electrified mortise lock with an inside lever always free for immediate egress, and Schlage offers Gold Standard ligature resistant trim for behavioral health applications on the L Series. Where the specification calls for an institutional function rather than a double cylinder keyed function, the Command Access ML04EU is an electrified mortise lock chassis built in asylum, institution and utility function, which locks both sides and removes free inside egress. Choose by whether the opening must allow immediate egress from the secure side.
17) I only need the electrified chassis, not full trim. What are my options?
The L9094EU is supplied as a complete lock with lever, rose and latch. If you are retrofitting and want to keep existing trim, a chassis-only electrified mortise body is the better buy: Command Access sells the ML04EU institutional function chassis and the LPM110ECH electrified latch retraction mortise lock chassis with 24VDC operation, both heavy duty.
